I started this novel as part of NaNoWriMo 2002.  Actually, I started it much earlier, probably around 1989 or so, when the idea was just a seed in my head. The characters and places grew out of that seed, and I started the novel on paper several times, without much success at getting past the first chapter.  I lost all those written false starts somewhere along the line.

When National Novel Writing month came around in 2002, I decided to dust off the characters and give them another start. I changed some things right off the bat, and some things just changed on their own as I started writing. I never finished NaNoWriMo. Never finishing things is a wonderful character flaw I have.

Yesterday, while poking around archive.org, I found what I wrote in 2002. I was surprised at how much I like it; usually my old writing makes me cringe.  But I found myself wanting to delve into the lives of these characters again, and finally finish the novel I started six years ago.

November is National Novel Writing Month. But I’m not joining. I am not putting that word count/time restraint on myself. I am however, starting to finish this novel this month. I’ll play along with those participating in the project, but there’s no way in hell I will be done come the end of November.

This story has been waiting six years to be finished.  It needs some time.

So this is where I will putting the story of Pug and Tiara and Mother Jordan and Devin and Kevin and Reverend Furey. There will be revisions, there will be wholesale changes, and this will be much like seeing sausage being made, if you’re interested in that kind of thing.

Comments/feedback always welcome.
